I am seeking reelection and I am asking for your vote. For the past five-and-a-half years, I have been honored to serve our community as a Tempe Elementary School District Governing Board Member. I am a passionate advocate for children and their education. I believe every child deserves a quality public education. I am willing to invest the time and energy required to govern the school district so that children are prepared to be life-long learners and successful adults who contribute to both our local and global community.
I moved to Arizona in 1998 and have lived in the district since 1999. I have been married to Dave Wells for the past 23 years and have three children. My children attended both Fuller School and Fees College Preparatory Middle School and are now in high school. I have two children who attend Marcos de Niza High School and one child who is enrolled in the international baccalaureate program at Tempe High School …
I understand the challenges that face today’s complex and rapidly-changing public education system. I listen to parents’ concerns about educational choice opportunities for their children. In a declining enrollment district, I listen to the public’s concerns about their neighborhood schools even if they don’t have children attending school. I listen to teachers because they deserve the tools and professional development to provide the best educational opportunities for their students. I share Superintendent Chris Busch’s district vision to sustain a culture of excellence for all children and adults.
I earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in social work. I believe that a governing board member’s role is to make decisions by balancing local control and communicating what is in the best interests of all district students.
