In Friday's East Valley Tribune edition, page A-8, a story about the DPS officer fires shots at warrant receiver should have said that the officer fired a shot, instead of shots.

Due to an editing error, a story in Friday’s Tribune about a Chandler police sergeant awaiting trial on an animal cruelty charge, Detective: Police dog deaths should be probed, misspelled the last name of his lawyer. It is Kavanagh, not Kavanaugh.

A story in Friday’s Tribune "Bus ridership in Gilbert sees sharp rise" should have said the anticipated cost of Valley Metro bus service to the town of Gilbert for fiscal 2009 is $1.17 million, or $19.38 per passenger trip.
Clarification on 'volunteer minister' accused of molestation

Recently published Tribune stories about former First United Methodist Church of Gilbert volunteer James Ward Chapman, accused of molesting a 13-year-old girl, have referred to him as “volunteer minister.” Chapman was never ordained as a minister.

Thursday’s cover story on pages A4-A5 about Gilbert’s plans to attract bird-watchers should have reported the town is seeking money to fund a hydrology study at a new riparian area under construction off Higley Road, between Queen Creek and Ocotillo roads, not the existing area on Guadalupe Road. A suggested educational facility would also go at the new location, if it is built.

A story on Page A5 Friday about the Queen Creek and Gilbert Highland High School teams going to the robotics national tournament should have reported Highland’s robotics team was the No. 2 seed. The No. 1 seed was the high school team from Las Vegas.

In Monday’s Tribune, a Page One story should have said Horse Mesa Dam generates 129,000 kilowatts, enough to power about 29,000 homes. The story incorrectly said it would be enough to power a typical residence for more than nine years.

In Friday’s Tribune, a story on Page A7 incorrectly reported that a spokeswoman for Gov. Janet Napolitano said the governor is “likely” to veto a budget measure approved by the Legislature. In fact, Shilo Mitchell only talked about why the governor didn’t like the measure.

In Tuesday’s Tribune on Page A1, the last name of Judah Nativio was misspelled as Naitivio in a story "Griswold champions Mesa’s potential." Also, it was wrongly reported that Nativio is a candidate in Senate District 19, which should be District 18.

In Friday’s Tribune, a story on Page A6 should have said the Chandler Police Department will use forfeiture funds seized from criminal activity to pay for a new DUI processing truck. The story incorrectly said grant money would be used to fund the purchase.
