Sam’s Club tweeted that it was closing stores to “better align our locations with our strategy.”

A Sam’s Club in Chandler is one of four in Arizona and dozens of stores nationwide that are closing.

The Chandler store, 1375 S Arizona Ave., shut on Jan. 11 and was to reopen Jan. 12, then close for good on Jan. 26.

The other Sam’s Clubs closing in Arizona include stores in Casa Grande, Scottsdale and Prescott Valley. The company is owned by Walmart.

Sam’s Club tweeted that it was closing stores to “better align our locations with our strategy.”

The move came on the same day that Walmart boosted starting pay to $11 an hour and offered one-time bonuses to some of its employees.
