Is your closet overflowing? Do you have items too nice to toss, but do not know what to do with them? Why not give with a purpose...
Assistance League of East Valley has a “gem” of a thrift shop in Chandler, serving the community for over 12 years. They contribute to many philanthropic programs helping children across the East Valley.
Assistance League of East Valley thrift shop is a non-profit organization run solely by volunteers. “It is a lot of work, but our purpose is great and we truly believe in our program,” says volunteer, Bonnie Domin. The community has depended on their programs, such as Operation School Bell, in which they help to clothe over 6,000 students. “ It is so humbling to see these children come to the “dressings” at Target and be able to pick out their clothes. The children are so grateful; it reminds us of why we do what we do.”
The Assistance League of East Valley thrift shop also supports a program called “Assault Survivor Kits.” They donate emergency clothing and other supplies to hospitals, fire stations, police stations and care facilities that handle crisis situations. Along with their regular contributions to several homeless centers throughout the East Valley, they really are the heart of our community. “We rely on the support of the community and donations are always needed; we are thankful to all that support our shop and allow us to serve,” says Bonnie.
“We accept gently used clothing, household items, toys, jewelry, books and some furniture. Money is also accepted with great enthusiasm! We have many terrific sales each week at our store and we have been called, “The Macy of Thrift Shops,” says Bonnie Domin. “Our store is bright, fun and has the friendliest staff! We also have name brands at CRAZY prices!”
“Watch for our ad in the Tribune the first Sunday of July for a coupon to make shopping, even more “thrifty.”
