The Sonoran Desert Chorale brings to the Valley of the Sun the music of our neighbors to the south. Music of Nueva España will celebrate aspects of Latin America's sacred heritage with origins in the rituals of Central America's indigenous cultures, and within the traditions of Mexico's great cathedrals. The concert will include 16th century music of the Aztecs sung in their native Nahuatl language, sacred texts in Quechuan from the heights of the Andes, as well as music written by chapel masters from Mexico City (such as Ignacio de Jerusalem's "Polychoral Mass in D" with chamber orchestra) that rivaled their great Renaissance and Baroque counterparts in Europe. Join the Chorale for the diverse Music of Nueva España.
