INDIA NITE JAN 2013

The India Association of Phoenix is excited to continue the annual tradition of hosting India Nite to commemorate and celebrate India’s 63rd Republic Day.

The Republic Day of India commemorates the date on which the constitution of India came into force.

On the 26th of January 1950, the constitution of India replaced the Government of India Act 1935 as

the governing document of India. The date, 26th January was chosen to honor the memory of the declaration of independence of 1930. It is a day that invokes patriotic fervor in the entire country. It is a very important day in Indian history and is designated one of the three ‘National Holidays’. Parades depicting the cultural richness of India are held in the Indian capital, New Delhi and other state capitals and institutions such as schools and community centers.
