Cox Communications says it plans to raise its cable television rates in Arizona.

The company says rates will rise by $5 per month beginning in August and will impact about two-thirds of its Arizona customers.

Cox executives say the increase is linked to rising costs for programming. Many of Cox's most-popular cable plans, cable tiers of service and cable-bundled plans are affected.

Cox last raised its rates in February 2008 by $10 for those signed up for phone, cable and high-speed Internet service.

Too bad that they don't invest money in those recycled garbage cable boxes. I am a firm member of the "Cable-box-of-the-month club" and president of Cox's "P.A.L.S." club (People Against Lousy Service) that they advertise. I wish Cox would stop advertising that they are the cheapest. They are not.
