AAA: Labor Day travel in Arizona to grow 11%

More Arizonans are expected to hit the road during the last big holiday weekend of the summer.

AAA says travel over Labor Day weekend in the state is expected to increase by 11 percent, or 74,000 more travelers hitting the road compared to last year.

The auto club's annual Labor Day travel forecast reveals continued recovery in travel.

According to the forecast, more than 740,000 Arizonans are projected to travel 50 or more miles from home over Labor Day weekend.

Nationwide, 34.4 million Americans are expected to travel over the Labor Day holiday weekend, an increase of nearly 10 percent, or 3.1 million more travelers compared to 2009.
