VX Roundup 2/1: Turnovers help Mtn. Pointe boys end Gilbert's 10-game win streak

Mountain Pointe forced 25 turnovers and held Gilbert to three points in the third quarter as the Pride won, 56-44, and snapped Gilbert's 10-game winning streak.

The Pride held a 30-24 halftime lead before the defining third quarter, an 11-3 advantage for Mountain Pointe.

Khari Holloway led all scorers with 16 points and Emmanuel Butler added 12 for the Pride. Truman Moore led Gilbert with 12 points, but the Pride further helped themselves with 28 free throws.

Boys Basketball

Queen Creek 63, Campo Verde 57:  Junior guard Blake Williams scored 19 points to lead four Bulldogs in double figures in the win. Zach Auguste scored 14, Williams' backcourt mate, Ty Lemieux scored 13 and Carter Wilson added 12 for Q.C. which held on late after forging a 35-25 halftime lead. Devonte Walker led Campo Verde with 17 points, Zack Patton scored 11 and Legend Artis added 10 for the Coyotes. 

Chandler Prep 55, Valley Lutheran 47:  Trailing 25-20 at halftime, Chandler Prep used a 14-4 third-quarter advantage to take a lead and held on in the fourth quarter. Chandler Prep was led by Jake Clydesdale's 20 points, Travis Farschman's 12 and Jack Hanson's nine. 

Saguaro 73, Arcadia 45

Girls Basketball

Bourgade Catholic 58, Scottsdale Christian 35:  Tied at 26-26 at halftime, Bourgade used a 32-9 second-half domination to cruise to the win.  Anna Long led SCA with 18 points and Kendyll Hellestrae added 11 in the loss.
