Leading Edge Academy East Mesa, a charter school for K-12 students, was chosen to receive a grant for new physical education equipment.
The academy participated in the Banner Health “Fit Kids Campus Challenge” for a six-week fitness challenge. Forty-four schools and more than 4,500 students participated in the challenge.
Banner Health provided the schools with a new challenge each week, ranging from a mile run to competing in team sports. The schools submitted weekly reports to Banner Health about their fitness challenges and experiences.
At the end of the challenge, three schools were awarded a $500 grant to put towards physical education equipment. Leading Edge was chosen as one of the three schools to receive the grant.
