Arizona State junior first baseman/pitcher Ike Davis has been named Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week, Collegiate Baseball announced Monday.

Davis, a Scottsdale Chaparral High School graduate, helped lead the Sun Devils to a 5-0 mark last week. Davis recorded two multi-homer games, homering twice in a 6-5 win on Tuesday against Arkansas and again on Friday in an 8-1 win over Troy.

Davis also pitched 1 2/3 innings against Arkansas, striking out four and not allowing a hit.

TENNIS

Arizona State junior T.J. Bellama has been named Pac-10 men's tennis player of the week, the league announced Monday.

Bellama earned the award after ASU posted wins over Clemson and Georgia Tech.

In singles, Bellama went 2-0 over the weekend, defeating Clemson's Derek DiFazio and Georgia Tech's Miguel Muguruza.

GOLF

The ASU women's golf team is in third place after the first round of the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitation in Honolulu, Hawaii. ASU shot a 13-over 301, 15 strokes off tournament leader Arizona.

ASU was led by sophomore Anna Nordqvist, who shot a 1-over 73 to tie for sixth place. Sophomore Juliana Murcia shot a 2-over 74 to tie for 10th place.

MERCURY

Phoenix signed Brooke Smith, Kristen Newlin and Wilnett Crockett to training camp contracts.

Smith is a 6-foot-3 forward/center, Newlin a 6-5 center and Crockett a 6-2 forward/center.
