Having served on the Chandler City Council for 8 years as well as the Chandler School Board for 8 years, I am running for the City Council again because I believe experience matters, especially during these tough economic times. We have lived in Chandler for 30 years and had a small business in Chandler for 39 years. Chandler has been a wonderful community to live and raise our 2 children.
As a City Councilmember, we brought in 647 businesses and 38,859 jobs to Chandler. I want to bring this environment back to our city and I will work hard to do that. While on the Council I voted 4 times to lower taxes. It is imperative to build our tax base through economic development so we can continue to live in a the high quality community our citizens demand and deserve without taxing us to death. I have always made conservative financial decisions with our taxpayers' hard earned dollars. That is why, as my first order of business as a City Councilmember, I will bring forward a motion to repeal the 48% pay raise the City Council gave themselves while cutting positions, benefits and services to the very citizens they were elected to serve. WHAT ARROGANCE! City Councilmembers should be about public service NOT self service!
In my 8 years on the City Council I was always a watchdog for the citizens of Chandler. I am not a rubber stamp and have always worked hard to make the best decisions for the citizens of Chandler. Not only did I vote to lower taxes 4 times but I also voted to take some of YOUR money kept in City savings to build a fire station in southeast Chandler as well as some park and road projects.
I am honored to be the ONLY candidate to have the support of the Chandler Police Officers and Fire Fighters. I am also endorsed by the other Chandler employees who provide the services to our citizens on a daily basis, Councilmember Matt Orlando, former Mayor Jim Patterson, former Mayor Coy Payne, former Mayor Kenneth Thomas, and former Councilmembers Patti Bruno, Martin Sepulveda and Oren Wallace. I am also supported by Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu, Maricopa County Supervisor Fulton Brock, Chandler School Board President Annette Auxier, Eddie & Nadine Basha, Joan Saba, Barbara & Norman Knox and Danell Tarwater.
I ask for your vote by mail or on Election Day, November 2nd. Please allow me to continue to work hard on your behalf and Keep Chandler the Best. For more information call me at 480-899-8696 or www.DonnaForChandler.com
