Our state and our country are in a downward spiral. We have fallen prey to those who have robbed us of our true history. I could not agree more with our Founding Father, John Jay, when he wrote, "Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty, as well as the privilege and interest of our Christian nation, to select and prefer Christians for their rulers... Americans are the first people whom Heaven has favored with an opportunity of deliberating upon and choosing the forms of government under which they should live."
Do I advocate for a theocracy? Absolutely not. Religious freedom is a cornerstone of our history. However, make no mistake, it is our historical ties to the teachings of Jesus Christ and the Scriptures that necessitate this and all freedoms. Men are , "...endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." These rights according to our Declaration of Independence are given to us by our Creator, not our Constitution. It is the Constitution's role to keep the government from infringing upon those rights, not the other way around. Therefore, to try and legislate Faith or morality in any way would in fact fly directly in the face of the Christian belief system. Thusly, it is also are duty to defend the innocent who are unable to defend themselves to ensure their freedoms are not infringed upon by others.
Christianity was the overriding belief system of our founders and that should be honored. Yet it has been intentionally wiped from our history by those who would hope to run your lives. Do you think it is a coincidence that the further we have strayed from our Judeo Christian heritage the more overbearing our government has become? The Journal of the House of Representatives on January 23, 1856 states, "The great, vital, and conservative element in our system is the belief of our people in the pure doctrines and the divine truths of the Gospel of Jesus Christ." In other words, the Gospel of Jesus Christ was the reason the American system worked. This was fifty years after Thomas Jefferson coined the phrase "Separation of Church and state" not in the Constitution, but in a letter of response to the Danbury Baptists. We have been deceived!
As the majority of our founders and in the tradition of America, I am an unashamed follower of Jesus Christ. The government has no right to take your freedoms from you, they are endowed by God, not man. That is the philosophy with which I will represent you. You don't need to be a Christian, but take comfort in the fact that I am, because it is that value system that compels me to fight for your right to make your own choices and run your own life. There is hope on the horizon, but we must turn back so He will heal our land.
