The House voted unanimously Monday to repeal all references in state statutes to “disabled” or “handicapped” individuals.

HB 2667 replaces those phrases with “persons with disabilities.”

The measure was pushed by Rep. Stefanie Mach, D-Tucson. She is a survivor of a car accident when she was a teen that left her scarred and missing an arm.

In a prepared statement, Mach called the current language “offensive.”

It already was approved by the Senate and now goes to the governor.
