State election officials say they believe a mailer sent in the Nov. 8 recall election of Senate President Russell Pearce violates Arizona campaign finance law by being deceptive.
The Secretary of State's Office is asking the Attorney General's Office to take enforcement action against Citizens United for Progress, a company name that appears on several mailers regarding the recall.
The secretary of state contends that one mailer is deceptive because of its labeling and a quote from a government official, the Maricopa County recorder. The mailer warns voters that mail-in ballots list the name of Olivia Cortes, a candidate who has withdrawn from the race.
Other mailers criticize Pearce and praise challenger Jerry Lewis.
An attorney for Citizens United for Progress did not immediately return a call for comment Thursday.

Typical nasty politics from the Lewis/Parraz/Snow team.
Stae Senate Majority Leader Biggs:
Mesa's District 18 has one of the most effective legislative leaders in recent history, but a group of outsiders has hijacked the will of Mesa voters, forcing a new election and raising the real possibility that Senate President Russell Pearce could be forced out of office.
President Pearce understands their needs and works to make the East Valley and the state of Arizona better places. They have a Senate president who successfully engineered one of the most effective sessions in memory. President Pearce promised voters a truly balanced budget, and he delivered with a package that balanced the books without crippling state agencies. Biggs
