FLORENCE — A man deported five times since 2005 has been arrested in Arizona on a probation violation and for allegedly assaulting a Pinal County Sheriff's deputy.

Sheriff's officials say 37-year-old Jorge Luis Morales-Espinoza is being held on suspicion of hindering prosecution, resisting arrest and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.

Officials say Morales-Espinoza was a passenger in a car stopped last Friday night in Coolidge.

A sheriff's deputy checked for warrants and found Morales-Espinoza was wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service for probation violation.

Authorities say Morales-Espinoza resisted arrest and fought with deputies in an attempt to get away.

They say Morales-Espinoza was last deported from in December 2012.

They say he has numerous arrests and convictions in Arizona including extreme DUI and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
