A former Arizona State University student who claims she was sexually assaulted at a campus fraternity party two years ago is suing the state Board of Regents for failing to properly investigate her case.

The lawsuit was filed Tuesday by the woman's attorneys and seeks unspecified damages. The suit claims ASU's police department and disciplinary office failed to follow sexual harassment guidelines laid out by Title IX, a law written to combat gender discrimination in education.

The woman claims she was sexually assaulted by two members of the Sigma Chi fraternity at a costume theme party in 2008. According to ASU Police Department reports from the incident, the woman reported the alleged assault a day after it occurred and was intoxicated when she showed up at Tempe St. Luke's Hospital.

ASU issued a statement Tuesday saying it does not comment on pending litigation.
