Bolton, a former state court judge appointed to the federal bench in 2000 by President Bill Clinton, will decide whether to block Arizona's sweeping new immigration law, which requires police, while enforcing other laws, to question a person's immigration status if officers have a reasonable suspicion that the person is in the country illegally. Slabside, no wonder your posted remarks are so ignorant. You must have just fallen off the turnip truck as it was passing through Arizona. So happens the Tribune here (two investigative reporters) won a Pulitzer Prize for investigative reporting from their well-researched, well documented 5-part series investigative report on the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, published about two years ago. They spent a year researching public records, learned of slow response times, deficiency in arrests, no follow through on serious crimes, racial profiling when they rode along with deputies, etc., etc. The series is entitled "Reasonable Doubt" and is probably still available online, even though the Tribune was sold around the same time the reporters and the paper were awarded the Pulitzer. Check it out.

Today we are seeing a war against the rights we ALL have as a human being and this along many others in history are done for the sake of peace and fairness. Alot of people believe that there's one race on top of all others and that's called IGNORANCE. No one race is better than another the only difference in all humans is the variety of skin color and that is NOT what signifies who is better and who is not. There is not one race in the US that is not a immigrant except, the NATIVE INDIANS and these are the only ones that have the RIGHT to call anyone of any other race a immigrant. Everyone, whether native of Mexcio, England, China etc. are all immigrants and the ones that say they are US citizens, well this is only because someone in your generation crossed over and migrated here and gave birth to ur butts here and NOW you all think I'M AN AMERICAN. Well, guess what none of us are, we are ALL immigrants, so save your nonsense and excuses and if you think immigrants are taking all the jobs then why don't u give up your lovely job in your office or wherever you work (in cool air conditioning) and do the jobs you are complaining about! Until this day I don't see the so called citizens doing half of the jobs that the so called immigrants do or did. DO IT!!!

kk33, and it is those REAL crimes you mention, e.g., murder, rape, assault, car-jackings, burglaries, etc., that federal immigration laws and Congress have prioritized for enforcement of those laws, a point well made in the DOJ's lawsuit against Arizona's usurpation of federal immigration law. Read the complaint if it's not too much trouble.
Chicken-hearted Arpaio goes after the working busboys, dishwashers, maids, landscapers, using hundreds of his deputies at a crack, while the felons in our state are having a heyday, not being investigated or apprehended. Same as the enforcement procedures laid out in SB 1070, in total conflict with federal immigration policy.
Placing all cops in this state, untrained as immigration agents but nevertheless required to have everyone's immigration status checked out when they have "reasonable suspicion" after a lawful stop for a broken tail light, is counter productive and unworkable. There are not enough police resources in this state or with the feds to implement the demanding procedures and ill-conceived punitive actions spelled out in the idiotic SB 1070, which is not only unconstitutional but unworkable. Real crime and Real criminals must continue to be the focus of our law enforcement officials in this state.
Read the judge's 36-page ruling and reasons for enjoining the most egregious of the measures contained in that enactment. Enlighten yourself.

How many more homes need to be broken into? How many more health care facilities need to shut down for lack of payments due to them? etc-----etc Oh wait---these are hard working individuals trying to support their families. IceCat,
Yes, the majority of the posts (like immature temper tandtrums) would indicate those people have no idea how government. But they're a manifestation of "follow the leader." Look at the quotes in the article by Russell Pearce and Jan Brewer, emotionally feeding the ignorance. "Don't pay attention to the law or the facts or the judge's stellar record of judicial integrity and professionalism. Definitely don't read the judge's 36-page ruling or learn anything about the law. We'll tell you how it is, we're right, the judge is wrong, and her ruling on the preliminary injunction is all political."
Pretty sick. Pearce and Brewer are the "illegals" -- not by status but by actions.

Arizona’s "Support Our Law Enforcement and Safe Neighborhoods Act" (Senate Bill 1070) law: There are 36 pages that still can be enforced.
U.S. District Court Judge Susan Bolton did not halt the part of the law that creates misdemeanors crimes for harboring and transporting illegal immigrants.
SB 1070 goes into effect at 12:01 a.m. Thursday, July 29, 2010. And Judge Bolton's ruling will have little impact on the planned "crime-suppression" operation scheduled, Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said.

If you read what the judge said you will realize how dumb your AZ reps are. They can't even word things properly. They do the same thing when they try to confuse voters with the wording used on ballot initiatives but we let them get away with it. The judge's ruling makes perfect sense if you take the time to read it. What doesn't make sense is why so many people are willing to support an unconstitutional law anyways. Be careful what you wish for.

A Federal Judge is appointed for life. I believe she can only be removed for criminal actions and or violating her judicial duties which she has not.
She is a Democrat and can do what she wants pretty much on the bench. That's why there is an appeal process.
It will most likely go to the Supreme Court for a decision on appeals. I'd be willing to bet that any portions she's knocked out will be overturned in the Supreme Court and possibly even in the 9th circuit Court.
It ain't over till the Fat Lady Sings.. and no I don't mean the she man Napolitano .LOL..

I love that people here are bringing up that she was appointed by Clinton, but not that she was nominated and supported by our own Sen. Kyl.
Well, there is one person in our state who’s a real expert on this in the judiciary, and that’s Judge Bolton. And because of her expertise and fairness, all of the contending interests from Arizona have been willing to place their concerns before her to be resolved, and she is right in the middle of this important litigation right now. They will be very sorry to see her leave in Maricopa County Superior Court bench. So, I have some mixed emotions in helping to nominate or to confirm Judge Bolton, but that’s how highly thought of she is.

This was the writing on the wall ever since the bill was first crafted. But the passions of those folks who understand little about immigration law would not allow them to see beyond their feelings and misconstrued perceptions. For those who are closed-minded towards looking at immigration from both sides instead of just one, get ready for more disappointment. Ultimately, the U.S. Congress is the only entity that can solve this issue.

The judge said this last week: "Why can't Arizona be as inhospitable as they wish to people who have entered or remained in the United States?" Why the sudden change? The Obama thugs have apparently threatened her or paid her off. With this ruling, I guess I don't have to prove who I am either. Oh wait, I'm a citizen, not an illegal. She has just opened the floodgates of Mexico and encouraged all illegals to come here.[angry]

well you really didn't expect a federal judge to go against the doj. now did you really, they are the people that pays her wages, that would be like biting the hand that feeds you. just a note as to what it costs us to have the illegals here, yesterday a small school district in phoenix went back to school but 500 students didn't show up because they were afraid of being deported. now I know the fed gives money for every student in school but that comes no where near what we have to shell out as tax payers for their health and other services. If there are 500 less in that small school that would be gone they can reduce their staff and mack smaller classes thus costing the school less money to operate and that would cover the lost revenue from the fed
