Feds release $2M to repair northern Ariz. highway

PAGE — The U.S. Department of Transportation will release $2 million for initial emergency repairs to a highway in northern Arizona.
The amount was requested by the Arizona Department of Transportation.
Authorities say it's estimated that it will cost about $35 million to repair the damage and that figure could be higher after engineers complete their study into why the highway buckled on Feb. 20.
Gov. Jan Brewer signed an emergency declaration last Friday so the state could seek federal money to pay for repairing the highway, which remains partially closed.
U.S. Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick, D-Ariz., said Tuesday that the collapse and closure of the stretch of U.S. 89 on a hillside south of Page has had a direct impact on local businesses, schools and families.

Federal funds???? Does that make Arizona part of the Union? Thought they are pushing nullification down there...hypocrites to the max...fix your own roads..................
