PHOENIX - Retired Phoenix police officer Paul Penzone announced Tuesday that he'll challenge Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio in November.

Penzone is running as a Democrat and joins Scottsdale police Lt. Mike Stauffer in challenging the five-term Republican sheriff.

Stauffer is running as an Independent.

Penzone worked for the Phoenix Police Department for 21 years and was director of the Silent Witness program.

His campaign announcement accused Arpaio's office of financial mismanagement and leveled criticism at the office for either inadequately investigating or not investigating at all hundreds of sex-crimes cases.

Arpaio has refused calls from critics to resign because of the botched the sex-crimes investigations and allegations that his office racially profiles Latinos.

"Retired Phoenix police officer Paul Penzone"

    and

"either inadequately investigating or not investigating at all hundreds of sex-crimes cases."

Tell me Paul: How many sex crimes have remained unsolved in Phoenix in the same amount of time? What is Phoenix's PD ratio of solved sex crime cases? Has a Phoenix PD subordinate every royally messed up that resulted in a bunch of liberals to call for his resignation?

I don't know much about Stauffer, but I plan on checking him out, and listening to what he has to say.

You haven't said too much, but have said enough that I know I don't need to hear more. At least you didn't waste too much of my time.....

Mike Stauffer supports the ...Mormon "Utah Compact".

Don't know much about this guy other than he has a good "RC" Sicilian-sounding last name. All of the Maricopa County, Parish Priests must have the Sunday sermons supporting him already emailed to them.

As for the Left-Wing Liberal reporter from the Associated Press who wrote.."Arpaio has refused calls from critics to resign because of the botched the (sic) sex-crimes investigations and allegations that his office racially profiles Latinos"....great .."UN-BIASED REPORTING".

Heck, Obama's millions of critics have been asking him to resign because of Solyndra, "Fast and Furious", Obama-Care and Obama "Operation Open all the Borders"..............but do you ever see a reporting writing about that....not on you Life.

This state doesn't need any more democratic politicians in it. The bleeding heart liberals have already allowed the illegals and their criminal element to turn this state into a junior Tijuana.
