PRESCOTT - Searchers from the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office are trying to find a 64-year-old hiker from Oregon who failed to arrive at a meeting place after a day hike.
David Enge of Albany left for a four-mile day hike on the Apache Maid Trail outside Camp Verde before noon on Wednesday. He was supposed to meet his wife at 5:30 p.m. at an intersecting trailhead.
Sheriff's spokesman Dwight D'Evelyn says his wife waited until several hours after dark before giving up and calling for help.
Searchers combing the area using ground search teams and a helicopter since late Wednesday night still had not located him at midday Thursday.
Enge is 6-feet tall, about 200 pounds and was wearing a gray T-shirt with the words "I Survived the Rogue" across the front of the shirt.
