If the amount of food in the package is reduced by 5% and the retail price only drops by 2% then the consumer is still on the losing end. For instance, a 3 oz package of salmon is now 2.6 oz, so you are getting 13% less for your money. Mayonnaise is now coming in a 30 oz jar instead of 32 oz so you are getting 6.25% less.
