Federal appeals court judges are in Arizona to hear arguments at law schools at Arizona State University in Tempe and the University of Arizona in Tucson.

Issues in the cases before a three-judge panel of the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals range from voting rights to hostile work environments.

The three cases being heard Monday at ASU include ones concerning allegedly offensive content distributed on a community college's e-mail system and voting rights of felons.

Two cases being argued Tuesday at the University of Arizona center on requirements for voter identification and proof of citizenship and on First Amendment rights on campus.

Retired Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor of Arizona is serving as a 9th Circuit judge to hear the appeals.
