The Michael J. Fox Foundation has chosen the Arizona Parkinson’s Disease Consortium to take part in a five-year, $40 million study that, according to the press release, “could change the nature of Parkinson’s disease research.” The consortium will be one of 18 research sites in the United States and Europe that will study 400 Parkinson’s patients and 200 healthy volunteers to “find a biomarker for Parkinson’s Disease, which will help scientists for the first time definitely diagnose the disease, track its progression and determine which therapies work and which ones do not.”
