TUCSON - The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has filed a federal election complaint saying an ad supporting GOP congressional candidate Tim Bee is an illegal campaign contribution.
The complaint filed Tuesday with the Federal Election Commission contends that the Education Finance Reform Group's ad violated commission regulations and campaign finance laws.
It says the ad, featuring the president of the Vail Education Association thanking Bee for sponsoring a bill to link pay to performance, amounts to a prohibited corporate contribution. Bee is the Arizona Senate president.
The complaint contends that the ad lacks sourcing and a disclaimer and expressly advocates Bee's election.
Bee, challenging Democratic Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, earlier this week asked that the ad be discontinued.
