I remember a time in the 70’s when a tube trip down the Salt River meant one big party. At every shallow nook in the shade of trees by the shore one could hear the contemporary music of KDKB continuously playing as the stream and the people, gently float by. I remember the yellow KDKB bumper stickers, as a great way to identify ‘my generation’. I’d like to give a big HELLO to all the folks at KDKB.

I remember waking up for school and listening to the fantastic 4 when the station went on the air. Then there was some bit about Dr. vondairyqueen. In the early 80's before punk really it Arizona they were playing that format, groups like the talking heads, the tubes, ramones, and the clash to name a few. Then there was the KDKB air force. You would get a certificate that you joined and a pair of plastic air force wings, witch I wore mine proudly. Playing the early punk paved the way for stations like KSTM, KEYX, and KUKQ. There was also a show on Thursday nights where you send in three song requests and if you got picked you got to play them that night inside the studio. When other stations of the time like KOPA were playing captain and tanial KDKB was blazing a new path for AZ. Thank you KDKB and happy B-DAY.
