FLAGSTAFF — Flagstaff council members are denying a petition to allow smokers to light up inside a local smoke shop.

Rebel Smoke Shop owner Mike Mrozek said there's room inside current state law to allow him and his customers to huff and puff their favorite smokes.

An attorney for Mrozek said his client offered to put in $10,000 smoke scrubbers that would stop smoke from escaping the walls of the business. That failed to sway the council.

Tuesday night, the Flagstaff City Council unanimously rejected the petition indicating it had no interest in easing smoking restrictions in the city.

Mrozek is also fighting the city in court after he was personally cited by Flagstaff police for smoking inside his business.
