Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords returned to Washington D.C. Monday to vote for the debt ceiling deal in the House.
Her "yes" vote was one of 269 that allowed the House to pass the bill to raise the debt limit. The final House vote was 269-161. The bill now moves to the Senate.
Representatives burst into applause when Giffords walked onto the floor. Shot in the head earlier this year in Tucson, the congresswoman continues to recover from her injuries.
On Twitter, Giffords tweeted, "The Capitol looks beautiful and I am honored to be at work tonight."
On Facebook, her staff wrote: "Gabby is voting to support the bipartisan debt-ceiling compromise. This is a huge step in her recovery, and an example of what we all know--she is determined to get better, and to serve CD8 and our nation. This vote--expected to be very close--was simply too important for her to miss."
