Child protection workers are investigating the disappearance of a young boy who wandered from his aunt's Apache Junction home early Wednesday and was later found unharmed.
The boy will remain with Child Protective Services for 24 hours while his disappearance is investigated to determine if there was neglect.
Police spokesman Capt. Thomas Kelly says it doesn't appear that there was neglect. No criminal charges have been filed.
A neighbor spotted the boy, who is between 1 and 2 years old, on a curb at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday near his aunt's home.
The boy's uncle awoke to find his front door open and returned to bed after assuming the boy's mother had come to pick up the child.
