State Sen. David Schapira, D-Tempe, announced Monday he has created an exploratory committee for a possible run in Congressional District 9.
Schapira, minority leader in the Senate and a former State Representative, is in his first term in the state Senate.
The Independent Congressional Redistricting Committee is in the process of forming the new district for Arizona, which earned an additional seat through population growth. It will likely include most of Tempe, as well as parts of the Ahwatukee Foothills, Chandler, east Phoenix and west Mesa.
State Sen. Krysten Sinema, D-Phoenix; Arizona Democratic party chair Andrei Cherny; and former Tempe mayor Neil Giuliano have all stated they may be interested in running in the 2012 election.

If you want my vote and the vote of many more, make a promise to get rid of each and every illegal immigrant in the State.

David is clearly the best person for the job. His public service speaks for itself, as do his politics.
He's a small business owner, a family man, and doesn't run from who he is or what he believes. He has a track record of proven leadership, and ought to bring some sanity to the U.S. House.
I hope David runs, but more importantly, I hope he win. Arizona could use some real leadership for a change.

David will indeed be formidable candidate for Congress and his Tempe roots will serve him well.
David is the person best poised to follow in Harry's footsteps. If it can't be Harry, it must be David.
He has knocked more doors than any other elected official in the area, and his policy abilites were soon evident in the state house, as he rose to leadership in the State Senate in his first term as as state senator.
We need advocates for education in the Congress. Run, run, run!
