Higher education officials in Arizona say the percentage of people in the state with bachelor’s degrees is rising.

The Arizona Board of Regents cites data from the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey that shows 26.6 percent of Arizonans who are 25 years of age or older have earned a bachelor’s degree.

That’s up from 25.9 percent in 2010.

The national average stands at 28.5 percent.

The Board of Regents launched a plan several years ago to reach the national average.

The board also says the number of bachelor’s degrees from Arizona’s public universities has increased over the last three years.
