The Democratic candidates are former Arizona Democratic Party Chairman Andrei Cherny, state Sen. Kyrsten Sinema and state Sen. David Shapira.

The newly-formed District 9 includes parts of Tempe, west Mesa, west Chandler, Ahwatukee Foothills , south Scottsdale, Paradise Valley and part of Phoenix.
