NOGALES - Lighter winds and better weather conditions helped fire crews battling a wildfire in southern Arizona.

The wildfire was 75 percent contained. Fire crews have been working the fire lines along remote and rugged terrain near the Arizona-Mexico border.

The fire has so far burned 5,070 acres said fire information spokesman Dave Killebrew.

"Full containment is still projected for this Thursday," Killebrew said.

About 350 personnel were brought in to man the fire lines.

"We got the crews we needed to get in and do some pretty intense work on the west side of the fire," Killebrew said. Some of the fire crews will begin leaving Tuesday, Killebrew said.

Fire officials also credited Mexican crews with helping battle the fire south of the border to contain the portion that was burning in Mexico.

The fire has been burning up dead grass, brush and mesquite.

Authorities believe the fire was human caused.
