TUCSON - A Tucson police officer has shot and killed a suspected armed robber who barricaded himself in a motel room.

Police spokesman Sgt. Fabian Pacheco says a SWAT team officer shot 46-year-old Richard Clark at about 8 a.m. Thursday after the team entered the hotel room and there was a confrontation in a bathroom.

Pacheco says the suspect is believed to have robbed a Burger King on Wednesday evening. Restaurant employees got a description of his truck.

Pacheco says the restaurant manager spotted the suspect's pickup at a midtown hotel early Thursday and flagged down officers.

Clark refused to come out of his room and an hours-long standoff ensued. The SWAT team blew off the door and sent in a robot. An entry team followed and one officer shot Clark.
