Attorneys for convicted murderer Jodi Arias are trying to keep out, or at least limit, media and media cameras from the courtroom during her retrial of the death penalty phase.

During the four-month long trial, millions watched the proceedings live streamed over the internet around the world. ABC15’s coverage alone attracted tens of thousands of online viewers.

A motion filed Thursday asked the judge to “preclude or limit live coverage of the sentencing phase retrial.”

Arias was convicted of first degree murder in May for the brutal killing of her former boyfriend Travis Alexander.

Alexander was stabbed 27 times, his throat was slit and he was shot in the head at his Mesa home in June 2008.

During the first death penalty phase, the jury determined the killing was especially “cruel”, but could not come to a unanimous decision on the death penalty sentence.
