SIERRA VISTA — The funeral for slain U.S. Border Patrol agent Nicholas Ivie is set for Monday in Sierra Vista, Ariz.
Ivie was shot to death early Tuesday near the Mexican border as agents responded to an alarm that was triggered by a sensor aimed at detecting smugglers and others entering the U.S. illegally. A second agent was wounded but has been released from the hospital.
The service will be held at 10 a.m. MST Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meetinghouse at 2100 Yaqui Street.
Church spokesman Kevin Goates says visitation will be Sunday evening at Hatfield Funeral Home.
A funeral will also be held at 11 a.m. MDT Thursday at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.
Authorities are investigating if Ivie was accidentally shot by another agent.
